I bought this headboard for a guest bedroom. It is exactly as pictured online--a dark brown color, and the metal tubes are slender. It is not overwhelming in a 12' x 12' room. It was purchased to blend with dark cherry furniture in a traditional style and works very well. It was easy to assemble--it only required the insertion of leg extenders into the finished headboard. We thought the bolts provided for attaching it to the bed frame were a bit too long and worried they might damage the box springs. We bought (and used) shorter bolts for less than $1. But in hindsight the longer bolts may have been fine because the corners of the box spring are curved and don't directly abut the ends of the bolts. We have only used the headboard for about a week, but it suits our purposes and seems sturdy so far.
